Cambodia Casinos

[ English ]

There is a captivating history to the Cambodia casinos that sit just over the dividing line from neighboring Thailand, in which gambling den betting is against the law. Eight gambling halls are established in a relatively tiny location in the metropolis of Poipet in Cambodia. This collection of Cambodia casinos is in a perfect destination, a three to 4 hour trip from Bangkok and Macao, the two largest betting locations in Asia. Cambodia gambling halls do a thriving business with Thai blue-collar workers and travelers from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very few Westerners. The amazing income gained from the gambling dens ranges from seven and a half million dollars to over 12.5 million, and there are a number of controls requirements for gambling den ownership. Ownership is required to be largely Thai; although, investment sources are ambiguous. The borders are formally open from 09:00 to 1700, and despite the fact visas are supposedly necessary to pass, there are means around this, as is real of most border crossings.

The first Cambodia gambling dens premiered in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were forced to close in 1998, leaving only 1 casino in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a stationary ship gambling den, features one hundred and fifty slot machines and sixty gaming tables. The Naga gambling hall never closes with 42 tables of mini-baccarat chemin de fer, four tables of vingt-et-un, ten of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and one each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The original casino in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in the late nineties and the Golden Crown before long followed. There are 150 slot machine games and 5 tables at the Golden Crown and 104 slot machine games and sixty eight table games at the Holiday Palace. The newer Holiday Palace Casino and Resort features 300 slot machines and 70 gaming tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slot machines and ninety six table games, including eighty seven baccarat chemin de fer (the most popular game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Also, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 slots and 66 of the familiar table games, as well as 1 table of Casino Stud Poker. One more of the 8 gambling halls in Poipet, again in a motel, is the Princess Casino with 166 one armed bandits and 97 games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in an international resort and hotel building that features numerous comforts on top of the casino, which has 10,000 square feet of one hundred and thirty one armed bandits and 88 gaming tables.
