Cambodia Gambling Halls
There is an interesting history to the Cambodia casinos that lie just over the border from nearby Thailand, in which casino betting is prohibited. Eight casinos are anchored in a generally small location in the municipality of Poipet in Cambodia. This group of Cambodia gambling dens is in a perfect area, a 3 to four hour travel from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 biggest gaming centers in Asia. Cambodia gambling dens do a huge business with Thai laborers and guests from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a few Westerners. The phenomenal capital accrued from the gambling dens ranges from 7.5 million dollars to over 12.5 million, and there are a number of limitations constraints for gambling den ownership. Ownership is presumed to be mostly Thai; although, financial sources are cryptic. The borders are officially open from 09:00 to 1700, and even though visas are supposedly necessary to cross, there are methods and means around this, as is true of many borders.
The 1st Cambodia gambling dens opened in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were forced to close in the late nineties, leaving just one gambling den in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a stationary bateau casino, highlights one hundred and fifty slot machine games and 60 tables. The Naga gambling hall is open all hours with forty two tables of mini-punto banco, four tables of 21, ten of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and a single table each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.
The 1st gambling den in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in 1999 and the Golden Crown before long followed. A total of 150 one armed bandits and five table games at the Golden Crown and 104 slots and 68 tables at the Holiday Palace. The newer Holiday Palace Casino and Resort features three hundred one armed bandits and seventy gaming tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slot machine games and 96 gaming tables, including 87 punto banco (the most beloved game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. In addition, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 slots and sixty six of the normal gaming tables, as well as a single table of Casino Stud Poker. An additional of the eight gambling dens in Poipet, again a part of a motel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slot machines and 97 games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in a multinational resort and hotel complex that highlights many conveniences aside from the gambling hall, which contains 10,000 square feet of one hundred and thirty slots and eighty eight table games.
